John and I are in Connecticut this summer, where we are still recalibrating after a whirlwind year. After relocating briefly to New York in 2022, I started a demanding program at Yale, and he began his first music directorship in North Carolina after many years of playing supportive roles in music. Our new experiences brought incredible joy, though if I’m being honest, I am often left wondering how to manage it all.
This year taught me that even watching your dreams come true can cause anxiety.
